My summer uniform

Here are some of the outfits i wore practically everyday during this cold summer – I refuse to wear jeans in summer even though i could’ve almost every day. I think feeling cold is all in the mind (not really but worth a try!)

My absolute necessities this summer have been: 1) scarves 2) cotton tops & 3) shorts, 4) my floppy hat and 5) arm parties, such as this bracelet made by my girlfriend (also seen here)

My summer staples: a cotton shirt and denim shorts. Scarf: swapped (from fellow blogger Jennifer),  shirt: swapped (Esprit), shorts: DIY old Bracewell jeans, shoes: Toms, Necklace: gift, Ten Thousand Villages

Time for a cute interjection: #1 in his summer staples: vintage Old Navy shirt and Gap shorts with his additions: my F21 floppy hat and hand-me-down Walmart wedges… and Thomas.

A stripe tee (laundry room), shorts ($1 garage sale), sandals (Mom’s), bangles and a Mommy purse (Country Road)

Happy Wednesday!

I just love this skirt of my Mom’s.

don’t you love buying clothes as souvenirs – it makes me remember my trip everytime i wear then. dress: billabong (maui), shoes (italy), bag: urban outfitters

love this chloe dress. this was an awesome ‘laundry room’ find (thanks Bri!!)

how are you spending your summer days?

A mad hatter

Our somewhat sunny summer has led me to be excited about hats! I don’t think I am one of those hat people as I find hats draw attention to yourself and although an extrovert I don’t like being in the limelight much.  Here’s some of my hatty outfits from this last week…

Hat: Forever 21, Shirt: Jacob (swapped), Sunglasses: H&M ($2)

Hat: Forever 21, Dress: H&M, Bangles: H&M, thrifted, Mom.

Berry Picking! Hat: Mimco (old!), Romper: H&M, Necklace: F21, Sunnies: H&M ($2)

Happy Wednesday!

Welcome back old friends

Although my 30 for 30 remix days are far behind me, I thought I’d share what I’ve been wearing since (well Saturday!) I am loving having full access to my wardrobe and actually have worn some of my 30 for 30 items as well (surprise surprise?!)

What I wore: Utility Jacket (my new staple): F21, dress – Glebe Market in Sydney (Sportgirl I believe), Sunnies – H&M ($2) and shoes – swapped (Target)

At UBC’s beautiful Nitobe Gardens with #2 boy – my outfit wasn’t clear so posted the below pic to help you out! Dress: Old Navy, Scarf – swapped (from fellow blogger and talented artist Anje (see her blog here) & denim jacket: thrifted (Gap)

My darling hubby let me get a couple of days off to have a personal retreat to Bowen Island. Forgive my expression – I’d just finished a long uphill hike and was admiring (trying to admire amidst exhaustion) the view. Shirt – garage sale ($1!), DIY Bracewell jeans into shorts and Shoes: Toms

Till next Wednesday, take off your Mommy sweats and smelly Uggs and put on some pretty clothes!

Another free outfit!

So, this outfit cost me nothing?! How cool is that!?

Blazer: Sisley – laundry room, Top: Song - swapped, Jeans: Blue Notes - swapped, Shoes: laundry room

While my husband was taking these shots in our courtyard, my one year old was losing it… so the photo shoot stopped:

(note that cry/smile look!?)

And after a short cuddle….

the little man calmed down. Aww, all part and parcel of being a blogger AND a Mommy!

Thrifty Wednesday… and Monday

Lately I’ve been realising how little I spend on clothes and thus realise I must start spending some money on clothes (hehee). Here’s a couple of outfits for my fellow bloggers – Pleated Poppy and I’m Clothed Much. Unlike other bloggers, I am not a good photographer and have little time to get people take photos of me (nor really want people to take photos of me as I hate myself in photos!) But AS I am happy with these outfits simply because of the how much they cost (or how much they don’t cost!), I have summoned up enough courage to show them to you! Apologies for confusion about the days – I was too busy on Monday to post my Monday outfit so am putting two days together!

Here’s my Rule Breaking outfit: stripes on stripes! Elaine from I’m Clothed Much does stripes on stripes sooo well and I’m trying to replicate that.

Top – Armor Lux,  a laundry room find* (free!)

Skirt – Anthropologie, a gift from a girlfriend (free!)

Belt – from a thrift store in Brooklyn, NYC ($5)

Shoes – wedges from Barcelona (circa 2001!) (again, too long ago to remember how much $)

*  A word about my laundry room finds. I live in community housing and we have public laundry rooms and in each room is a dump box for people to donate their clothes, some of my favourite clothes for myself and my boys are ‘laundry room’ finds, I even think people who ask me where I got it think ‘the laundry room’ is a fancy store!! Hehee!!

My What I Wore Wednesday outfit is free! I normally wear my clothes swap finds mixed with clothes I actually purchased but when a friend commented on my outfit, I realised that each piece (aside from my underwear – snigger snigger) is from a clothes swap. How cool is that?!

Top – Ezekiel (private clothes swap)

Jeans – Bluenotes (Kits house clothes swap)

Belt – Jacob (private clothes swap)

Shoes – Target (Swap-o-rama @ Vancouver Museum 2010)

If you’re interested in clothes swaps check out my posts on them or attend Vancouver’s biggest clothes swap this Saturday 18th at Vancouver Museum. So much fun! And a great way for Moms with little $ to get some great clothes!

Happy Wednesday (and belated Monday!)

What I wore Wednesday…

So I’ve decided to link up to a few other style blogs and I absolutely LOVE the idea behind “WIWW” from The Pleated Poppy. She is one stylish – and creative Mom – you have got to check out her blog – and shop. “What I wore Wednesday” encourages Moms to get out of their everyday uniforms of sweats and tees and make an effort with your outfit. I’m aiming to post my Wednesday outfit each week… let’s see how that goes. I’m still learning to take good shots of myself and my outfits, please be kind!

Cardigan – H&M

Tank – clothes swap
