Tuesday’s giveaway: Earrings from Suetables

The Winner of this giveaway is Lisa from a little tete a tete, congrats!

I have recently fallen in love. With personalised jewellery. Maybe it’s me getting older and more emotional. Maybe it’s because my boys are growing up so fast and I want to hold onto them as long as I can. But we were shopping on Father’s Day and I saw a plain silver Tiffany’s heart in the cabinet and immediately asked to look at it, showed it to my hubby and was giving him the “oh i want this so badly darling warling baby waby” look…

Thankfully, I have also come across a more affordable and local solution: Suetables. These ladies specialise in personalised, elegant yet funky jewellery. Founded by Sue Henderson and serviced by a group of local reps (Our BC rep is Lisa, who is fantastic!), Suetables is “fuelled by passion and a commitment to create exceptional, simple and personal jewellery”. Suetables caters to those (me!) who choose to “express their authenticity and personal expression through fashion”. Each Suetables piece is hand-stamped and personalised: one letter or number at a time ensuring that each piece is unique to the wearer. They have several lines including a kids line which is amazing – it includes cute bracelets and pendant necklaces perfect for birthday, Christmas, graduation or confirmation gifts. The link to their Luxe line should just be emailed directly to your husband with a ‘Hint hint’ subject line as is perfect for wedding anniversary or ‘you love me so much’ gifts!

Lisa sent me my own personalised Linton charm necklace (see below) and I absolutely love it. I receive many  compliments and I love wearing ‘my boys’ so close to me at all times! They have a fantastic range of jewellery catering to a wide variety of styles and tastes.

Lisa has generously offered a pair of the Daphne crystal stud earrings (you can choose black or clear). They retail at $20 and are absolutely stunning.  They are available in a super sparkly white crystal or black diamond crystal. These earrings are best sellers and are perfect for day and night wear – whether it be wearing it with a t-shirt, jeans and ballet flats at the park with the kids or on date night with your husband. Also these are a perfect gift as they suit such a range of people’s styles: elegant, classic chic or romantic.

To win: 1. “like”  Suetables’s Facebook fanpage and 2. Visit Suetables write a comment about your favorite Suetables product under this post!

Good luck! Winner will be announced next Tuesday.

Also, the wonderful Lisa is offering a promo to my faithful readers: 15% off all orders before Friday June 24th (that’s this Friday so be quick!)
The promo code is: SSM11 and the orders must be placed directly through Lisa’s email address: lisa@suetables.com, rather than ordering online through the Suetables website. How good is this deal?!

Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday’s giveaway: earrings from Bueno Style

When perusing local designers recently, I came across Bueno Style and was fortunate enough to meet Christi York, Bueno Style’s designer at a local craft fair. I fell in love with all her pieces and purchased a cocktail ring for myself which I absolutely adore. What I love about Bueno Style is that the pieces are made of recycled vintage jewellery reworked into funky, beautiful, stand out pieces. Christi launched Bueno Style in January 2007 and she uses most vintage discontinued glass and brass filigrees, beads and lockets from the 1920-80s. Christi will even work with pieces you have eg. inherited jewellery from your great-great aunt, creating a custom piece of jewellery you’ll actually wear! Check out some of her designs here. Today’s giveaway are a pair of earrings made with vintage filigrees paired with vintage blue glass stones from Europe. These earrings are valued at $34.00 and could be yours! Visit Bueno Style’s shop and write a comment and for an extra entry, ‘like’ BuenoStyle and OAK Vintage Jewelry on Facebook. Good luck! These are adorable earrings – if not for you but for a gift for a friend (eg. me!! hehee!) North American entries only please!

And the winner of last week’s giveaway, the Twig Print tub is: Dana!! Congrats! Email me your address and a tub will be on its way to you!

Mother’s Day: Tips for Husbands! plus a discount and 2 giveaways!

Dearest simplystylish hubbies,

Here’s a tip: when your darling wife says something along the lines of “oh don’t bother making a fuss over me on Mother’s Day etc. etc.” – instead of nodding, grinning and turning back to the hockey: IGNORE her, head straight out to the mall and get her a present from the kids OR easier still, get online and buy something.

Here are some of my pics from local artists on etsy.com

Happy shopping Dads!

P.S: YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH JEWELLERY!

Personalized Family Tree

For the sentimental Mom, this pendant is cut from a sheet of sterling silver and the family tree is intricately cut using a jeweler’s saw. The surface is then given a satin brushed finish. This is a beautiful way for Mom to wear the names of her family around her neck. This is made by Vancouver artist Shirley of Wearthou. Shirley has kindly offered 20% off all  between 15-21 May. Just remember to mention ‘Mother’s Day’ in the ‘notes to seller’ and she will refund 20% off their purchase by processing a credit via paypal.

Mother (VIntage inspired Mother's Day necklace)

For the Sex&the City Momma here’s a more obvious statement of Motherhood. Here’s you own ‘Carrie’ necklace, it’s simple and lightweight, a classic piece of jewellery. It’s made by Richmond artist Kathy of Kohana Jewellery. For the cultured Momma, Kathy is also generously offering a give-away item – a custom piece of jewellery for those who have a favourite place in mind… visit her shop here and comment back here which city would be your pic!

Garden Cameo

Finally, for the vintage loving Mom – myself included, here’s a beautiful, delicate, floral cameo on a chunky vintage chain with a vintage rose charm at the bottom of the necklace. This is made by Vancouver artist Marta of Flylight. Marta has also offered a generous give-away – a fun button ring made with a recycled vintage button mounted on an adjustable brass band. Visit her shop and write me a comment about your favourite item on her shop and you could WIN this ring! Deadline is Wednesday 4th May. Good luck!
