Sadly, my boys and I won’t be in Vancouver forever. Hubby and I have lived here since 2005 and so we really feel at home in this darling little (for me!) city. I’ve decided to dedicate some posts to my favourite places in Vancouver. Today’s treasure is a local favourite for my family and I: UBC farm.
The UBC Farm is a 24 hectare learning and research farm located on the University of British Columbia’s Campus. The farm is run by students and is integrated with the wider community. During the growing season, this farm holds a run Saturday Farmer’s market from 9am-1pm. They feature an assortment of organic, farm-fresh veggies, fruits, herbs and flowers from the UBC Farm and also have a variety of other vendors selling their produce and goods.
Why i love this place: for city kids (like myself and my sons), it is such a treat to be out of our urban space – but without having to ride a bus or drive a car. This is a truly special spot we can enter and be in a quiet, undeveloped space. It is an amazing place to take kids, to show them where food really comes from and the market is a special place to hang out, listen to music, sample the produce, support our local farmers and enjoy a time-out from our hectic, manic city lives.
If you’re in Vancouver, I’d highly recommend a visit.
Here’s a photo diary from my most recent visit.
